The power supply was snapped due to snags last night as icy cold winds and rain lashed the area, plunging the town and its precincts into darkness. The staff of the power department were on their feet to restore the supply.

Roads leading to Chail, however, remained open as the Public Works Department (PWD) had taken measures in advance. More snow was expected as sky was overcast and rain continued to pour intermittently.
