Snow, rain likely in Himachal's higher reaches on Dec 14

The higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh are likely to experience snow and rain on December 14.

According to the State Meteorological Department, the snow and rain are likely to affect isolated areas of Kullu, Kinnaur, Chamba and Lahaul–Spiti, while the rest of the state is expected to remain dry.

Dry weather is also likely to prevail across all districts until December 13.

In addition to this, a yellow warning has been issued for dense fog on December 9. The advisory covers parts of the Balh valley in Mandi district and areas surrounding the Bhakra dam reservoir in Bilaspur, particularly during the early morning hours. Minimum temperatures are expected to rise by 2°C to 3°C over the next two to three days, though maximum temperatures are likely to stay near normal.

The past 24 hours saw mostly dry weather across Himachal. Both day and night temperatures stayed 2°C to 4°C above normal at several locations. Minimum temperatures varied from –6°C to 11°C, while maximum temperatures were recorded between 9°C and 25°C.

Shimla registered a minimum of 9.5°C, while Dharamsala settled at 6.8°C. Manali recorded 6.7°C, Kangra 7°C, Mandi 7.1°C and Solan 3.7°C. Other minimum readings included Bilaspur at 7.7°C, Kalpa at 2.6°C, Hamirpur and Sundernagar at 5.7°C, Bhuntar at 6.5°C, Una at 5.4°C, Nahan at 9.8°C, Kufri at 6.4°C, Paonta Sahib at 9°C, Narkanda at 3.7°C, Reckong Peo at 3.5°C and Tabo at –1.8°C.

Berthin in Hamirpur was the warmest spot with a maximum of 25.4°C, while Kukumseri in Lahaul-Spiti remained the coldest, dipping to –6.2°C.
