Solan school hosts two-day CBSE workshop in line with new edu policy

A two-day CBSE workshop focusing on developing core training skills for educators, in line with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, concluded yesterday at Gurukul International Senior Secondary in Solan. A total of 98 educators from CBSE schools across the state and Haryana participated in the workshop which was aimed at improving academic outcomes.

Various sessions conducted by CBSE master trainers introduced teachers to the latest teaching techniques and educational reforms. Participants actively engaged in the workshop, exchanging valuable insights and information.

The workshop featured key speakers including Tarun Kumar, Joint Secretary of CBSE and Head of the Centre of Excellence in Panchkula; Inderjeet Mittal, Master Trainer at the Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (ISTM), Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India; Sanjeev Kumar Puri, resource person from Shimla; and Arun Masih, principal of Baptist School, Chandigarh, who presided over different sessions.

Sponsored by CBSE in collaboration with ISTM, DoPT, Government of India, the two-day certification course was designed by Inderjeet Mittal. He said the upcoming era would present challenges for educators and stressed the importance of instilling moral values in students while minimising the use of gadgets, particularly mobile phones. Mittal urged teachers to promote reading habits to keep pace with the latest developments.

Tarun Kumar highlighted the necessity of such courses in response to NEP 2020’s recommendation of 50 hours of continuing professional development for teachers and head-teachers. He noted the course aims to develop core training skills and would involve training at least 100 trainers in each area for subject-specific programmes.

The management of Gurukul International Senior Secondary, including the principal, Dr Lakhwinder Arora, said they were committed to organising similar informative workshops in the future.
