Soldier cremated with full military honours

Akshay Kapoor, a soldier of Dogra Battalion deployed in Arunachal Pradesh and belonging to Bagni village, was cremated with full military honours today. Akshay (29) had died of cardiac arrest on Friday.

Dharamsala MLA Sudhir Sharma, Congress leader Devendra Jaggi, former MLA Vishal Nehria, pradhan of panchayat Suresh Kumar Pappi and many district administration officials paid tribute to the departed soul.

Akshay's body was brought by road from Delhi. It reached Army Area Yol Cantt on Sunday night. On Monday morning, an army contingent reached Bagni village with the body of the soldier as the family of the martyr waited for the body with teary eyes. The funeral procession was taken out from Sidhbari to his village.

His elder brother Lucky Kapoor lit the funeral pyre. Akshay’s wife Riya Kapoor bid her husband farewell in bridal attire. Akshay had got married only two months ago. Every eye was moist and the entire area echoed with slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Akshay Kapoor Amar Rahe’.
