In a written communication to Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has accorded the sanction for direct train service between Una and Haridwar.
As per the communication, the run of the daily Una to Saharanpur Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) passenger train has been extended to Haridwar and the service would be started soon. The 04501 train leaves Saharanpur station at 12.30 pm and on its return journey, the 04502 train departs from Una at 1.30 pm.
Sumit Sharma, member of the Commercial Department of Northern Zone Railways, said the extended train service would benefit the devotees wishing to visit Haridwar. In a statement on social media, Anurag Thakur thanked the Railways minister for fulfilling the long-pending demand of people from his constituency. He said the service would be of great help those travelling to Haridwar to immerse the ashes of their loved ones.
