Speaker for responsible use of Internet & social media
Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania on Thursday inaugurated libraries in Gram Panchayat Avah and Hobbar of the Bhattiyat Assembly segment in Chamba district. Addressing a public gathering at the Gram Panchayat building in Hobbar, he emphasised the importance of education, stating that a well-educated and successful individual is capable of bringing positive change to society.
He highlighted that library are being set up at the panchayat level to provide quality education and support students preparing for competitive exams. Each library is being equipped with books related to various competitive examinations, high-speed internet, and computers, with an investment of Rs 10 lakh per library.
Encouraging the youth, Pathania remarked that books serve as true companions and pave the way for progress and success. He also urged responsible use of social media and Internet. He announced that libraries would soon be established in Gram Panchayats Tundi, Kahri, Rajai, Jiyunta and Kakira as well.
Discussing development projects, the Speaker revealed that proposals for the construction of seven link roads worth Rs 15 crore have been prepared for Avah and nearby panchayats. Additionally, he assured financial support for the construction of a Women’s Mandal Bhawan.
Earlier, while addressing a public meeting in Gram Panchayat Avah, he directed officials to prepare estimates for the construction of a Ramleela Ground and an art stage. He also instructed the concerned departments to complete the procedural formalities under the Forest Rights Act for developing a sports ground.
Pathania assured the local representatives that their demands would be considered sympathetically. During the event, he listened to public grievances and resolved many of them on the spot.
Speaking on the occasion, SDM Paras Aggarwal emphasised the importance of libraries in the competitive era and advised students to stay away from substance abuse while being cautious of the negative effects of social media. He also discussed the role of artificial intelligence in exam preparations.
