Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Pathania today said that he had no desire for a ministerial berth in the state Cabinet and was very happy with the current responsibility. He was talking to mediapersons at a blood donation camp organised in the Vidhan Sabha.

He said, “The Congress government headed by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has completed two and a half years in office. I have performed the responsibility of Speaker with utmost sincerity. I am very happy here as it is a very big forum.”

Pathania said that he had no other desire and was satisfied and happy being the Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha. His remarks come amidst speculation that a minister could be appointed state Congress president to replace incumbent Pratibha Singh. In such an eventuality, two persons could be inducted into the Cabinet as one ministerial berth was already vacant since the Congress formed government in December 2022. There is speculation that Pathania could be inducted into the Cabinet if there is a reshuffle.

Pathania said blood donation was a great service to save many lives and people below the age of 60 years should donate voluntarily.
