Special needs children win big in Bilaspur

Children with Special Needs brought glory to the state by winning four medals at the National Bocce Championship. While Vikas Sharma won gold, Ritika and Karthik Sharma won silver medals, and Anjali won a bronze medal. The championship, held in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, from July 24 to 28 saw participation from children with special needs from across the country. The event was organised under the banner of Special Olympics Bharat.

A Samagra Shiksha spokesperson said the state team, led by coaches Surjeet Kumar and Archana Gautam, showcased exceptional skills in the tournament.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Education Minister Rohit Thakur congratulated the children on their outstanding performance. Director of Samagra Shiksha, Rajesh Sharma, also praised the children and highlighted the organisation’s efforts to promote inclusive education and provide opportunities for children with special needs to excel in sports and other activities. Four other children from the state, including two with special needs and two unified partners, have been selected for the National Football Competition to be held in Kolkata from August 22 to 26.
