Special screenings for young cinephiles at Shimla film festival
Shimla, August 8
The International Film Festival of Shimla (IFFS) will host ‘BACHPAN’ — screenings for children on the sidelines of the main screening. The 10th edition of IFFS will be held from August 16 to 18 at the Gaiety Theatre.
The festival is being organised by Himalayan Velocity in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the State Department of Language, Art and Culture (LAC).
“We are thrilled to offer the exclusive ‘BACHPAN’ programme for children at IFFS,” said festival director Pushp Raj Thakur.
The primary goal of the screenings was to create a platform where young minds could explore the world of cinema, learn from industry experts and be inspired to tell their stories, Thakur added. In addition to the screenings, children would be provided the opportunity to engage with the filmmakers directly. These interactive sessions would allow young viewers to delve deeper into the filmmaking process, ask questions and gain insights from those who create the movies they love.
By fostering direct dialogue between filmmakers and children, the festival aims to demystify the art of filmmaking and encourage future generations of storytellers, Thakur said.
According to festival organisers, nurturing young talent is crucial for the future of cinema. By offering children an in-depth understanding of the filmmaking process and providing them with the opportunity to interact with industry professionals, the festival hoped to inspire the next generation of filmmakers, they said. — TNS
