Speed up relief and rescue ops: Himachal CM Sukhvinder Sukhu

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today issued direction to speed up relief and rescue operations while reviewing the situation in the state due to incessant rainfall.

While holding discussions with Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena at his official residence today, Sukhu said ensuring safety of people was the top priority of his government. He appealed to the public to strictly follow administrative advisories, remain vigilant and avoid venturing close to rivers and streams while assuring that the state government was standing firmly with every affected family.

The Chief Minister further said that the Meteorological Department had issued a heavy rainfall alert for the next three days. Several parts of the state were currently experiencing torrential rains. He urged people to exercise utmost caution and extend cooperation in helping those in distress.

On Saturday, the Chief Minister had conducted an aerial survey of the disaster-affected areas in Chamba and Kangra districts. Today, he was scheduled to visit Kullu district, but he was forced to cancel his programme due to inclement weather conditions.
