Vallabh Government College, Mandi, has lifted the Overall Championship Trophy in the state-level men’s sports competitions for the year 2023-24. Led by Sunil Sen, head, Physical Education Department, the college athletes presented the trophy to principal Prof Surina Sharma.
Congratulating the players, coaches and sports managers for their outstanding performance, the principal emphasised the importance of sports for the holistic development of students.
In the current session, the college’s male athletes secured first place in state-level shooting, judo, boxing and wushu competitions. They achieved the second place in cross country, wrestling and kayaking, earning the runners-Up trophy. The college was placed third in volleyball and athletics. In the women’s category, the athletes secured third place in hockey, second in handball and shooting, and first place in wushu and kayaking.
To honour the players, a ‘High Tea’ party was organised at the college. Sunil Sen said this was the first time the college had won the Overall Championship Trophy at the state-level.
