Gokul Butail, Principal Adviser (Digital Technology, Innovation and Governance) to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, emphasised the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in governance and public service delivery. He was speaking at the inauguration of a one-day workshop titled “Leadership Empowerment through Artificial Intelligence”, organised by the Department of Digital Technology and Governance.

Butail stated that the core objective of the workshop was to enhance leadership capabilities through technological innovation. He highlighted how AI can assist in analysing large volumes of data, accelerate decision-making, and automate routine administrative tasks, thereby increasing overall efficiency and precision.

“Regular use of AI in daily operations would simplify work processes and significantly improve efficiency,” he remarked. He also underlined the commitment of the Himachal Pradesh Government, under the leadership of CM Sukhu, towards establishing the state as a digital hub. The state is making significant strides in digitising departmental services and integrating digital technologies across governance sectors.

Butail noted that the government has introduced AI courses in educational institutions to prepare the youth for future challenges and opportunities. These steps aim to foster a digitally skilled generation and promote innovation-driven growth.

He expressed confidence that the government’s forward-looking initiatives in digital technology will elevate Himachal Pradesh’s position on the global innovation map.
