The Himachal Pradesh School Education Board, Dharamsala, organised a state-level Children’s Day function on Friday to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the country’s first Prime Minister.
Board Chairman Dr Rajesh Sharma said the event highlighted Nehru’s policies, particularly his focus on education, youth and employment.
The event featured speech, essay and painting competitions, along with cultural performances. All activities were held at the Deendayal Upadhyay Conference Hall on the board premises.
To mark the occasion, a book titled “The Visionary”, dedicated to the life and ideals of Jawaharlal Nehru, was unveiled. The book includes messages from family members and individuals influenced by Nehru’s philosophy.
Around 80 students from across the state participated in various competitions at both school and board levels. Outstanding performers were felicitated during the function.
Chairman Dr Rajesh Sharma urged students to cultivate a positive attitude towards learning, remain calm in all situations and pledge to contribute to a healthy society by staying healthy themselves.
