State gets Rs859 crore for shiksha yojana
Strap: Addl teachers to be deployed in 3,850 primary schools

Amid the curfew, the Union Human Resource Ministry has sanctioned Rs 859 crore to the hill state for the annual Samgra Shiksha Yojana (2020-21).
Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj said the approval was given during a video conference with the Ministry of Human Resources recently.
He said additional teachers would be deployed in 3,850 primary schools to increase pre-primary classes. The honorarium of these teachers would be funded by the Central Government.
Pre-primary classes would be started in 100 more schools in the state, he said, adding that to further promote vocational education, 50 per cent additional new schools had also been approved. He said this programme was already functional in 953 schools of the state.
Approval had also been given for providing information and communication technology facility in 218 new high and senior secondary schools under Digital Initiative.
Bhardwaj said e-tendering of ICT labs was being done in 200 new schools. There were 2,740 high and senior schools in the state and this programme was already running in 2,137 schools of the state.
Youth eco clubs would be established in every school and Rs 5,000 would be provided for primary schools, Rs 15,000 for middle and Rs 25,000 for senior secondary schools, he added.
