State BJP president Rajeev Bindal today alleged that the state government had failed to restore roads and water supply and rehabilitate people in the flashflood affected areas of Mandi district.
Bindal, while addressing mediapersons here, said that heavy rain had caused extensive damage in various areas of Mandi district . “Eight days have passed but the government is still not concerned about the devastation in the affected areas,” he added.
He said that though various parts of Mandi like Karsog, Nachan and Dharampur had been badly affected by cloudbursts and flashfloods, Seraj had been the worst hit. “A total of 20 persons have died while 18 are still missing but the government has failed to provide drinking water and other basic facilities to people,” he added.
Bindal lashed out at Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for accusing the BJP of doing politics over the rain tragedy. “If the Chief Minister considers service as politics, we will continue doing it. If the distribution of ration, utensils and blankets, meeting affected people and sharing their grief is politics, we will continue to do so,” he added.
Bindal said that most of the roads in Pandoh and Mandi were closed and the government had not made efforts to restore them.
