Himachal leads in Aadhaar generation of children below five years of age

Himachal Pradesh is leading in Aadhaar number generation of children below the age of five with 56 per cent coverage against the national percentage of 39. Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena chaired a meeting to review the progress of the Aadhaar enrolment with all departmental heads of the state government and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) here. Face authentication in the public distribution system was launched on the occasion.

Saxena emphasised the importance of achieving 100 per cent Aadhaar saturation in Himachal Pradesh and directed all departments to activate all enrollment kits at the earliest and ensure an optimal utilisation of available resources. Himachal has made significant progress over the past three months and the pendency of mandatory biometric update has decreased from 5.5 lakh to 4.75 lakh.
