Himachal likely to receive rain on June 15

The Meteorological Department has said that the state is likely to receive rainfall from June 15, providing respite from the ongoing heatwave conditions. According to the department, light rainfall was very likely to occur at isolated places over mid and high hills on June 15 and across the state from June 16 to 18.

The department also mentioned that the maximum temperatures would likely fall by about 3°C to 4°C over some parts of the state during the subsequent days, while no large change would occur in the minimum temperatures during the next three to four days. Also heatwave condition would persist in several districts on June 13 and 14 as the department has issued yellow warning in isolated areas of Kullu, Mandi, Una, Kangra and Sirmaur districts.

Meanwhile, the weather was mostly dry across the state during the past 24 hours with the maximum temperatures ranging between 3 to 5°C above normal in most parts of the state.

Shimla, the state’s capital, recorded a maximum temperature of 28.6°C, while prominent tourist destinations such as Dharamsala, Manali, Dalhousie and Kasauli recorded 36°C, 30.8°C, 26°C and 28.9°C, respectively.
