In a bid to give a major fillip to sports promotion, the Cabinet today announced major incentives in Swarnim Khel State Sports Policy 2020, which will replace the sports policy was framed in 2001.

The Cabinet today approved the Swarnim Jayanti Sports Policy 2021. The policy lays emphasis on sports promotion by developing, maintaining and optimally utilising high quality sports infrastructure. The policy aims at encouraging public private participation in creating sports infrastructure and coordinating with educational institutions for promotion of sports.

It aims at providing the best of facilities for training and support to sports persons for participation and excellence in national and international championships with high standards of ethics. The policy also aims at introducing scientific research in training for long term sports development and recognize and honour talent in sports and reward young women and men who have achieved excellence in sports.

In a major decision, the Cabinet decided to dispense with the process of 15 marks evaluation and enhancement of weightage of written test from 85 to 100 marks for direct recruitment to Class-III posts to ensure more objective selection in transparent manner.

The Cabinet gave its ex post facto approval for 100 per cent waiver/ exemption of Token Tax, Special Road Tax and Passenger Tax of various categories of vehicles to provide relief to the transporters keeping in view the affect due to corona pandemic. It decided to waive remaining 50 per cent Token Tax on stage carriage, taxi, maxi, auto and contract carriage buses, institutional buses and 100 per cent Token Tax on contract carriage buses and Special Road Tax on stage carriage with effect from August 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.

It was also decided to waive 100 per cent Token Tax on stage carriage, contract carriage and institutional buses and Special Road Tax of stage carriage with effect from July 1, 2021 to November 30, 2021. It also decided to waive 100 passenger tax on contract carriage and institutional buses with effect from April 1, 2020 to November 30, 2021.

The Cabinet gave its approval for restructuring State Taxes and Excise Department. It also gave its consent to open new sections of Jal Shakti Department at Darwar and Kelodhar in Mandi district.

Posts in revenue, industry depts to be filled

  • The Cabinet gave its approval to fill 108 posts of different categories in Revenue Department and 42 posts of silk inspectors in the Industries Department on contract basis
  • Nod to providing relief to the flood-affected farmers of Lahaul-Spiti for current agriculture and horticulture losses caused due to extensive rains in July last year
