State-of-art eye hospital in Kullu
In a significant step towards improving healthcare accessibility in Kullu district, the Kullu Rotary Club has inaugurated a state-of-the-art eye surgery hospital in the Gandhinagar area of Kullu town. This cutting-edge facility aims to provide free treatments and advanced surgical procedures, offering hope to underprivileged patients.
The inauguration ceremony, led by Rotary Club president Anshul Prashar, began with a traditional pooja, marking the auspicious launch of the initiative. Accompanied by Rotary Eye Hospital chairman Vikas Kumar and other Rotarians, Prashar emphasised the hospital’s world-class infrastructure and advanced equipment imported from Japan and Switzerland to ensure top-tier eye care for residents.
Highlighting the Rotary Club’s 23-year legacy of community service, Prashar shared that the eye hospital was previously based in Ruadu near Bhuntar but was relocated to Bajaura due to land acquisition for the four-lane project. With this new centre in Kullu, the club seeks to expand its outreach and provide affordable, high-quality treatments, particularly benefiting economically weaker sections of society.
The Rotary Eye Hospital chairman detailed the hospital’s advanced medical technology, including the Topcon OERTLI Phaco machine for painless, incision-free cataract surgery and the NIDEK OCT machine for detailed retina examinations. Other high-tech equipment, such as YAG lasers for eye membrane treatments and automated prescription machines for precise eyewear fittings, reinforce the hospital’s commitment to modern, affordable eye care.
Kumar also announced that intra-vitreal injection services, previously available only in Maranda (Kangra) and PGI Chandigarh, will now be accessible in Kullu, eliminating the need for patients to travel long distances for specialised treatments. With expert ophthalmic surgeons and state-of-the-art operational facilities, the hospital is set to become a regional hub for advanced eye care.
