The HP State Pensioners’ Association honoured 17 elderly government pensioners, including two women, at its 14th annual function on Saturday. For the past 14 years, the association has organised the ‘Samman Smaroh’ to recognise pensioners aged 75 and older from the lower Kangra areas.

Kangra District Treasury Officer (DTO) TS Khanna presided over the ceremony. Addressing the gathering, he urged pensioners to ensure they complete the necessary documentation when submitting their service and family pension cases. He stressed life pensions should be submitted between July and November each year to ensure smooth disbursement. Khanna also urged pension holders who retired after January 1, 2016, to submit their pension revision cases to his office, as he has now been empowered to process these requests.
