Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today congratulated the people of the state on the occasion of 54th Statehood Day at a function organised at Dharampur in Mandi district. He remembered the contributions of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and first Chief Minister Dr YS Parmar to Himachal achieving the statehood status.
Sukhu unfurled the National Flag and received the salute from the police, Home Guard jawans, Traffic Police, NCC and NSS cadets, Scouts and Guides, ex-serviceman and the police band in a commendable march past led by Parade Commander Gauravjeet Singh, a probationer IPS officer.
Universal cartons for apple growers
- The state government is going to fill over 21,000 posts, including 5,291 posts of teacher, 1,226 of constable, 2,061 Van Mitra and 10,000 posts in the Jal Shakti Department, said Sukhu

He said that it was for the first time that Statehood Day was being celebrated in Dharampur of Mandi.
Sukhu said, “The government aims to establish six green corridors in Himachal by March-end to ensure e-charging stations are available to tourists and locals.”
He added, “e-vehicles are being promoted in a big way in Himachal and the government has imposed a ban on the purchase of petrol and diesel vehicles in all departments from January 1, 2024.”
Sukhu said, “The government has introduced the ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ programme to connect with people and resolve their grievances. We have enacted a law for orphan children and 4,000 of them have officially been adopted as the children of the state. The government has launched the Rs 680-crore Rajiv Gandhi Self-Employment Start-up Scheme.”
He added, “The government is starting English medium education from Class I from the new academic session in all government schools. Moreover, Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar Vidyarthi Rin Yojana offers students loans up to Rs 20 lakh at 1 per cent interest rate for vocational and technical courses.”
Sukhu said, “The new excise policy has generated an additional revenue of Rs 846 crore. The government has initiated the Rs 500 crore Him Ganga scheme for farmers. An investment of Rs 1,292 crore will be made under the HP SHIVA project in the first phase and fruit saplings will be planted on 6,000 hectares in 400 clusters. The initiative will benefit 15,000 farmers.”
