Stay connected to your traditions, ex-CM tells pupils
Mandi, February 10
Former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur exhorted students to stay connected to their culture and traditions.
He said this while presiding over the annual prize distribution function of the senior secondary school at Kashimbalidhar in his Assembly constituency of Seraj in Mandi district as a chief guest on Friday.
Talking about the importance of student life in achieving success, the former CM said, “Values that we learn during our childhood are the basis of success in our lives. Therefore, students should inculcate discipline, stay away from drugs, respect elders and participate in sports, besides studies. Also, we should remain connected to our culture and traditions,”
He urged “Today I am happy that students are performing well in academic activities in this school, where teachers were earlier sent as punishment. Good education for children has brought a lot of changes in the remote village,” he stated. He highlighted that road facilities had reached remote areas and made life easier for the locals.
The former CM appreciated students’ cultural presentation on Ram Temple. He urged them to also follow the ideals of Lord Rama.
Thakur said that Lord Rama was seated in his grand temple in Ayodhya after a long struggle of 500 years, due to which tremendous enthusiasm is being seen among the practitioners of Sanatan Dharma.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership was helping India in becoming one of the best nation in the world. “Today the country needs a strong-willed leader like Narendra Modi, who can make India the biggest superpower in the world.” He urged the children and parents to listen to PM Modi’s Mann ki Baat,” he said.
Thakur assured the School Management Committee of providing financial help for school buildings and filling vacant posts soon.
He also expressed concern that teachers from Seraj schools were being transferred to other areas while no one was being sent to fill vacant posts. He said the matter would soon be brought to the notice of the CM.
Principal Puran Chand, BJP leader Kullu Aditya Vikram Singh, School Management Committee Chairman Lal Singh, BJP leader Gulzari Lal, Zila Parishad member Rajni Thakur and Panchayat Pradhan Nok Singh were also present on the occasion.
