The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Himachal Pradesh, organised its annual conference on “Unlocking the Growth Potential of Himachal Pradesh” with the theme “Driving Investments and Fostering Sustainable Growth” in Shimla today.

Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena said, “Himachal Pradesh offers immense opportunities for sustainable industrial growth. We recognise the existing challenges and are committed to working collaboratively with industry stakeholders to overcome them. The government is focused on creating an enabling environment that fosters innovation, investment and inclusive development while ensuring that growth remains sustainable and environmentally conscious.”

Additional Chief Secretary RD Nazeem said, “We acknowledge the existing challenges and are actively addressing them. It is our responsibility to ensure that the industry thrives in a conducive and supportive environment.” He added that the state administration was proactively addressing industry concerns through policy reforms, infrastructure upgrades and facilitating the ease of doing business.

The conference highlighted the critical role of public-private partnerships in unlocking the state’s growth potential. Industry leaders stressed the importance of sustainable practices, especially in sectors like tourism, agriculture and energy to ensure long-term benefits for the region.

Sunil Taneja, Chairman, CII Regional Committee on MSME, said, “Himachal Pradesh has huge potential for industrial growth. Industries such as pharmaceuticals, precision tools and electric vehicle (EV) parts can become key drivers of the state’s economic progress. We should focus on building strong supply chains, encouraging innovation and creating a robust ecosystem that attracts investments in these high-growth sectors.”

Navesh Narula, chairman, CII Himachal Pradesh, reiterated the confederation’s commitment to working closely with the government and the industry stakeholders to drive investments that align with sustainable development goals. Deepan Garg, vice-chairman, CII Himachal Pradesh, also called for strategic initiatives that would catalyze growth, create jobs and enhance the state’s economic resilience.
