The doctor’s body was discovered in a seminar hall on the hospital’s third floor, partially nude and bloodied.

The post-mortem report revealed multiple injuries on her body.

Protesters accused RG Kar Medical College former Principal Dr Sandeep Ghosh of initially dismissing the case as a suicide, and failing to address the severity of the crime. They alleged police involvement in covering up the incident, with claims that the crime was committed by the son of a Trinamool Congress leader and his associates.

The organisations are urging for enhanced protection for doctors, particularly women, and have called for the resignation of WB Chief Minister and Health Minister Mamata Banerjee on moral grounds.

Janwadi Mahila Samiti president Veena Vaidya, Sunita Bisht, Rita, Bhavna, Poonam, DYFI state president Suresh Sarwal, Ankur, Bhupender, CITU members Rajesh Sharma, Praveen, Maniram, and SFI representatives Deepak and Sunny were among those present at the protest.

Yesterday, the Mahila Morcha of the BJP also held the mass protest in Mandi town, demanding capital punishment for the accused.
