Students clean up Guna Mata Temple complex
In a collective effort to contribute to environmental rejuvenation, 40 students from Government BEd College, Dharamsala, ventured to the Guna Mata Temple in upper Dharamsala for a cleanup drive. The initiative, led by two units of the Red Ribbon Club and Rovers & Rangers, was undertaken as part of their commitment to community service. Three faculty members also accompanied the students on this one-day mission.
Moved by the deteriorating condition of the temple complex and its surroundings, the students themselves proposed the drive. Once the idea was agreed upon, they dedicated their day to removing litter and restoring the sanctity of the site. At the end of the day, the participants expressed immense satisfaction at having contributed to preserving nature.
Beyond the cleanup, the students also engaged with villagers and devotees, spreading awareness about tuberculosis (TB) and AIDS.
Speaking to The Tribune, Dr Atul Thakur commended the enthusiasm of the students but expressed concern over the widespread littering in the scenic temple premises. He urged the government to take strict measures.
