On the occasion of World Meditation Day, the Physical Education Department of Government College, Dehri, in the Fatehpur subdivision organised a meditation session on Saturday to boost mental and physical well-being of the students.
The session was inaugurated by department head Devinder Singh who sensitised the students about the observance of World Meditation Day by the General Assembly of United Nations on December 21 every year. He highlighted the importance of meditation by focusing mind, calming the brain, relieving negative thoughts and focusing on reducing stress. Yoga instructor Rajit Sharma taught the college students subtle yoga, pranayama and meditation practices.
A total of 110 students participated in the session where they were guided by the instructor through various asanas and meditation techniques that aid in mental clarity, stress relief, and overall physical health. The session concluded with an address of principal Sachin Kumar who appreciated the students’ active participation and emphasised the importance of incorporating meditation and yoga in daily life.
The UNGA had on December 6 passed a resolution formally declaring December 21 as World Meditation Day.
