Shimla, November 13
Students of Indian origin from nine countries called on Governor Bandaru Dattatreya at Raj Bhawan today under the 57th Know India Programme organised by the Ministry of External Affairs.
Interacting with the students, the Governor said Himachal was a peaceful state and the people were peace-loving and affectionate. The state was also known as Devbhumi as it was the land of Gods and Goddesses.
The objective of the programme is to enable the students to rediscover their roots and rich cultural legacy of the state and the country. The programme began with visiting historical monuments, religious places, universities and places of tourist attraction. In the second phase, they visited Himachal, Jakhu temple, Hatu peak, Naldehra, Kufri and Tara Devi Temple.
The group included 40 participants from Surinam, Guyana, Mauritius, Myanmar, Trinidad & Tobago, Fiji, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Israel. — TNS
