Superintendent of Police Bhagat Singh Thakur on Saturday urged students to use their skills to bring positive change in society and support the police in preventing cybercrimes. He was addressing the ‘Hack on Hills 7.0’ programme at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur.
Thakur urged students to excel in modern technology, cyber security, artificial intelligence and digital innovation. He stressed the need to combine technical expertise with ethical values and social responsibility, saying the constructive use of technology is vital to building a safe and progressive India.
Highlighting the district police’s initiatives, Thakur said that the ‘War Against Drugs’ programme had been launched to curb drug abuse and the misuse of narcotic substances. He described it as a comprehensive and ambitious plan to eradicate the illegal flow and use of drugs, aiming to create a healthier, drug-free environment for current and future generations.
The event was organised jointly by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Computer Centre of NIT Hamirpur. Faculty members including Dr Kamlesh Dutta and Dr Jyoti Srivastava, along with several officials and students, were present on the occasion.
