Students to promote heritage village of Kangra

The Central University of Himachal Pradesh’s (CUHP) School of Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Management has taken the mantle for promoting the heritage village of Kangra, Garli Pragpur. The department is organising a tourism week for which the students will organise various programmes and activities in the village. The campaign will conclude on World Tourism Day, September 27.

On the first day of the campaign, Vice Chancellor Sat Prakash Bansal flagged off the Garli Paragpur Heritage Village Yatra, organised by the School of Tourism. On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor said the heritage buildings, villages and sightseeing places play an important role in tourism. He added that the students of tourism will meet the local people and gather information about tourism promotion from the villagers. He distributed sweets to all the students before they headed for Garli Pragpur.

On this occasion, CUHP Registrar Suman Sharma and Prof Sandeep Kulshreshtha were also present. Convenor of the programme Harish Gautam said mega cultural functions will be organised on World Tourism Day. Various programmes will be organised by the school for seven days in which heritage tour, tree plantation, one-day seminar, national quiz competition, school-level quiz competition, cleanliness drive, poster-making competition, waste to best competition, selfie booth, artisan live workshop, speech competition and cultural programme will be organised.
