Students urged to embrace hard work, discipline, positivity

The annual prize distribution ceremony at Government Senior Secondary School, Urla, was marked by enthusiasm and cultural vibrancy on Saturday. Former minister and senior Congress leader Kaul Singh Thakur attended the event as the chief guest and honoured students who excelled in academics, sports and cultural activities.

The ceremony commenced with the lamp-lighting ceremony by the chief guest and other distinguished guests. Principal Sanjeev Thakur and school management committee (SMC) president Bhup Singh Dharwal welcomed Thakur with a shawl, cap and memento. Presenting the annual report, the principal highlighted the school’s achievements in academics, extracurricular activities, sports and ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure.

Thakur encouraged students to embrace hard work, discipline and positive thinking as guiding principles in life. Emphasising that rural students possessed immense talent, he urged parents to keep their children away from drugs and ensure they understood the value of education. He also motivated teachers to continue providing value-based and quality education. Thakur assured the attendees that the basic issues of the school and vacant posts would be taken up with the state government for resolution at the earliest.

The audience was captivated by colourful cultural performances presented by the students. Dance, music and dramatic presentations received widespread appreciation. A powerful one-act play, highlighting the harmful effects of drug abuse, left a strong impact on the spectators, for which the chief guest announced a cash incentive of Rs 10,000.

Meritorious students from various classes were honoured during the ceremony. Among those awarded were Aarushi, Divya, Twinkle, Poorvi, Smriti, Vishal, Poorvi, Ahan Dharwal, Sonam, Veeren, Shreyashi Dharwal, Ritika Thakur, Aditi, Suhani, Payal, Deekshit, Shruti Dharwal, Sarika Chauhan, Anshika Kumari, Naina, Monika, Arnav Dharwal, Shubham Bhoj, Kusuma, Piyush, Anjali, Naina Devi, Tanisha, Bhuvesh Thakur, Kashish, Neha, Neeraj, Tanvi Yadav, Ankita, Deepika, Rohit, Vasundhara, Nikita, Gaurav Chauhan, and students from Middle School Nagani including Kanika, Kritika, Tanu Devi, Anamika, Suraj Thakur, Kajal, Navya, Ankita, Navya, Gulshan and Neha Mittal.

The event concluded on a joyous note, celebrating the achievements of students and reaffirming the commitment of the school and community towards holistic education.
