The state government has decided to raise subsidy on edible oil for BPL families from Rs 10 per litre to Rs 30 per litre and for APL families from Rs 5 per litre to Rs 10 per litre for the next four months, said Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur here today.
He said that the decision would ensure additional financial benefits of Rs 13 crore to the consumers of the state in four months and benefit over 18.71 lakh card holders.
Thakur said that the country had witnessed a sharp increase in the prices of edible oil in the past two to three months due to import-related issues, which were beyond the control of the state government.
The Chief minister added that the government through the public distribution system was providing about 32 lakh litres of edible oil to the consumers.
