Sukh Ram’s statue to be installed in Mandi
A statue of late Pandit Sukh Ram, former Telecom Minister, is set to be installed at Indira Market in Mandi district. According to his grandson, Aashray Sharma, the development is a result of his recent meeting with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Sharma requested the installation ahead of Sukh Ram’s third death anniversary on May 11.
Sharma emphasised that Indira Market, one of the key projects credited to Pandit Sukh Ram, holds emotional significance for the people of Mandi, making it an ideal location for the statue. The Chief Minister has asked Sharma to submit a formal proposal to the state government for approval.
The statue will be funded and constructed by an NGO, ensuring no financial burden on the state exchequer. This initiative aims to honour the legacy of Pandit Sukh Ram in a meaningful way.
