Sukhu launches Mukhyamantri Bal Poshtik Aahar Yojana for students

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched ‘Mukhyamantri Bal Poshtik Aahar Yojana’ and distributed tablets to primary school teachers here today.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that teachers bring changes in life and shape future of children. He said that 17,510 primary school teachers across the state would be given tablets as part of the government’s initiative to promote Information Technology in educational and administrative processes. He added that the initiative was aimed at modernising teaching methods, improving access to digital educational resources and simplifying administrative tasks. He said these tools would bring improvement in the overall quality of education and enable teachers to effectively present teaching materials to students. He said that tablets would also enable teachers to participate in online training programmes to enhance their professional skills.
17,510 teachers to get tablets
- The CM said the ‘Poshtik Aahar Yojana’ would provide nutritious food to children. This scheme would complement the existing Mid-Day Meal Scheme running in 15,181 schools in the state

The Chief Minister said the ‘Mukhyamantri Bal Poshtik Aahar Yojana’ would provide nutritious food to children in government schools. This scheme would complement the existing Mid-Day Meal Scheme running in 15,181 schools across the state. He said that around 5,34,293 children benefited from the Mid-Day Meal Scheme would now receive additional nutrition under the new initiative as this would add boiled eggs or fruits once a week as per the preference of the children. He added that the state government has allocated an additional budget of Rs 12.75 crore for the ‘Mukhyamantri Bal Poshtik Aahar Yojana’ for the current financial year.
The Chief Minister said the government was poised to improve quality of education in the state and 217 teachers were sent on exposure visits abroad in a phased manner. He said the government had decided to transfer teachers in government schools once a year to ensure that students do not suffer due to change of teachers in the middle of the sessions. He said that schools with low student turnout would be merged with the nearest schools.
The Chief Minister criticised the BJP government for opening over 400 educational institutions without staff and shifting teachers from other schools leading to decline in the quality of education. He said that the government was upgrading 850 educational institutions as Centres of Excellence.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur, present on the occasion, said that the state had made significant progress in the field of education. He said tablets to primary teachers would bring positive results. The state inherited poor economic situation but the Chief Minister had taken several steps to make Himachal Pradesh self-reliant. He added that the Education Department had received approval to fill 7,000 posts. Of these, 2,300 appointments had already been made.
Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, MLAs Suresh Kumar, Ranjit Singh Rana and Vivek Sharma and chairman, Kangra Cooperative Primary Agriculture and Rural Development Bank Ram Chand Pathania were also present on the occasion.
