Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi today and urged him to release the compensation for the losses the state had suffered during the monsoon in 2023.

Sukhu said, “Himachal had claimed financial assistance under the post disaster needs assessment but the relief from the Central Government is still awaited.” He told the Home Minister that the state had suffered heavy losses due to devastating heavy rain during the 2013 monsoon. Drinking water and irrigation schemes, besides roads and bridges were badly damaged.

He said that the damage caused by the rain disaster required a large amount of relief and rehabilitation measures and the state had managed these from its own resources so far.
