‘Sukhu ne bulaya hai, bhukhe hi tarpaya hai’: Sloganeering against Himachal CM leads to FIR against college students
Police say section of alleged uninvited crowd at CM event was reportedly disgruntled over lunch arrangements
Solan Police have registered an FIR against several residents and students, including some girl students from Government College Darlaghat, after sloganeering was reported during Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s recent visit to Darlaghat.
The Chief Minister was in the area on Saturday to inaugurate various animal husbandry schemes.
A section of the crowd, reportedly disgruntled over lunch arrangements, was heard chanting: “Sukhu ne bulaya hai, bhukhe hi tarpaya hai” ("Sukhu called us, only to leave us hungry").
A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.
Superintendent of Police, Solan, Gaurav Singh, confirmed that an FIR was registered following the incident.
He stated that some functionaries of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) from Government College Darlaghat created a disturbance at the venue.
According to him, the students involved were neither invited nor official participants of the event, and their presence was part of a deliberate attempt to disrupt proceedings.
However, college authorities claimed that four students from the Scouts and Guides unit had been formally invited by the Animal Husbandry Department to welcome the Chief Minister.
According to the FIR, accessed by The Tribune, a local resident, Basant Lal, lodged a complaint stating that around 2 PM on October 2, when he went to take lunch at the event, he witnessed several girls raising slogans against the CM.
The complaint alleged that the act was deliberate and aimed at inciting regional hatred and enmity. He also mentioned that while the identities of the students were not known at the time, they would be provided to the police later.
The FIR was registered on October 4 at Darlaghat police station under Sections 353(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertain to making or circulating statements, false information, or rumors with the intent to promote enmity, hatred, or ill will among different groups based on religion, community, or other grounds.
Police said that common intention was established and that further investigation is underway. Repeated attempts to contact Arki MLA Sanjay Awasthi for comment were unsuccessful.
