Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu participated in the ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ programme held in Bagasarahan, a remote village in the Anni subdivision, yesterday. During his visit, he engaged with local villagers, listened attentively to their concerns and shared dinner and an overnight stay with a resident. He remarked, “These programmes are designed to bring the government closer to the people, address their issues at the doorstep and save both time and money.”
The CM explained his administration’s decision to extend these outreach initiatives across the state. He stated, “We have resolved to conduct ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ programmes even in the remotest regions, with every minister hosting similar events in their constituencies, especially in rural areas. Our ultimate goal is to enhance the welfare of our citizens.” He also encouraged local youth to leverage the government’s self-employment opportunities and steer clear of social evils like drug addiction.
He emphasised that these programmes in remote villages offer him firsthand insight into the daily challenges faced by local communities. He observed that residents in these areas are reaping benefits from the government’s initiatives.
Artistes from the Information and Public Relations Department performed traditional programmes aimed at spreading awareness about government schemes and development projects. Local Mahila Mandals from Bagasarahan and Sarahan honoured the CM and presented cultural performances. He also paid homage to the local deity, praying for peace and prosperity across the state.
Today, he visited the Government Senior Secondary School in Bagasarahan. In an interactive session with teachers, he stressed the need for imparting practical knowledge alongside the standard curriculum and for enhancing students’ competitive general knowledge. His engagement with students was equally lively.
