A special cleanliness drive was organised on Monday in the Sultanpur ward under the aegis of Nagar Parishad Chamba, with the primary aim of thoroughly cleaning and sanitising the area.
The campaign focused on the hotspot zone located below Sultanpur Chowk and was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Engineer Sanjeev Kumar and Junior Engineer Neetika Thakur. Volunteers from the social organisation “Prerna – The Inspiration” joined hands with municipal workers to collect and dispose of dry and wet waste, including plastic materials, in a responsible and eco-friendly manner.
Assistant Engineer Sanjeev Kumar highlighted that along with cleaning, the drive also sought to raise public awareness about the importance of door-to-door waste collection. “Sanitation workers visit households daily to collect segregated waste. We urge residents to cooperate and refrain from dumping garbage in open areas. Strict action will be taken against violators,” he stated.
Junior Engineer Neetika Thakur added that such drives are being conducted regularly across all wards. “The goal is not just cleaning but cultivating a culture of civic responsibility among citizens and eliminating waste from key hotspot areas,” she said.
The initiative reflects Nagar Parishad Chamba’s commitment to a cleaner, healthier urban environment and serves as a reminder that sustainable sanitation requires active participation from both authorities and the public.
