The state-level Nalwar fair in Sundernagar, Mandi district, will be celebrated with traditional grandeur from March 22 to 28. This year, the fair will revolve around the theme “Drug-Free Sundernagar, Healthy Sundernagar.” Sundernagar SDM Amar Negi announced that the fair would include various awareness activities, continuing beyond the event, to promote a drug-free community.
Sundernagar hosts two major state-level fairs annually—the Nalwar fair and the Suket Devta fair, which will be held from April 2 to 6. A preparatory meeting, chaired by SDM Negi, reviewed last year’s financial details and discussed the successful execution of both fairs. He emphasized maintaining their traditional and cultural significance while ensuring meticulous management.
To enhance the fair’s impact, government departments will set up exhibitions, and suggestions from officials and committees have been invited. Multiple committees have been formed to handle logistics, security, and other arrangements. Special seating arrangements for deities will be made to ensure a smooth event.
The fair will feature five cultural evenings, along with a variety of competitions, including wrestling, sports events, a traditional dress competition, a cattle and dog show, baby show, food festival, and bicycle race. These activities aim to provide entertainment while promoting local culture and traditions.
