‘Super 30’ empowers students from remote areas to excel in JEE (Main)
Of the 30 students enrolled in the coaching provided by CSRL, and sponsored by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), 28 have successfully cleared the JEE (Main). Better known as ‘ONGC Super 30’, these students hailing from the remote areas of Himachal have demonstrated that with the right guidance and opportunities, no dream is beyond reach.
The ‘Super 30’ programme is an initiative by the ONGC under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mission in collaboration with CSRL. Students participating in the programme this year, have reached one significant step closer to winning admission in esteemed and famous engineering institutions across India, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs).
Last year’s student Piyush Choudhary is now in IIT-Roorkee, while Tenzin Dolma is in IIT-Kanpur and Vishal Chauhan in IIT-BHU. This year, Sridul secured a percentile of 98.6424655 and All India Rank 20882, Daksh Rana secured 97.8189845 per cent, Poonam Singh 97.687738, Tanvi Choudhary 97.3532683, Kartikeya Sharma 97.2061099 and Jatin secured rank 870.
Established in 2022, the ONGC’s ‘Super 30’ Kangra Centre endows a comprehensive 11-month fully residential and free of cost coaching programme for exceptionally talented boys and girls hailing from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in Himachal Pradesh. So far, this transformative initiative has supported and guided over 80 students towards higher educational pursuits.
According to Rahul Kumar, Project Officer, this programme is exclusively designed to meet the needs of students from Himachal Pradesh whose family income does not exceed Rs 4 lakh per annum. The selection process comprises a two-stage assessment that includes a written test followed by an academic interview, ensuring that only deserving and needy students benefit from this invaluable opportunity.
