In a major relief for residents and travellers, Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC), Keylong Depot, has resumed bus services on long routes that were previously disrupted due to last month’s heavy rainfall and landslides in the tribal districts of Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu. A section of Manali-Leh highway was damaged between Manali and Atal tunnel, which disrupted bus service on this highway.

Deputy Commissioner of Lahaul-Spiti, Kiran Bhadana, informed that the affected bus routes have been reinstated yesterday to ensure ease of travel and restore normalcy in the region.

Additionally, bus service from Keylong to Chokhang will commence from September 24, 2025.

In a move to improve efficiency and reduce delays, DC Kiran Bhadana also directed bus station manager to ensure that the Kullu–Killar and Killar–Kullu buses do not halt at Keylong bus stand for more than 30 minutes.

She added that the resumption and continued operation of these services will depend on passenger demand, weather conditions and road safety.

This restoration of public transport services is expected to bring considerable relief to locals and tourists alike.
