Tabo in tribal Lahaul Spiti district shivers at –7°C

Tabo village in the tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti remained the coldest place in Himachal Pradesh, recording a bone-chilling –7°C, the lowest temperature of the season so far. The intense cold wave swept through higher reaches of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Chamba, Kullu, Kangra and Shimla districts as minimum temperatures dipped sharply across the state.

Despite the plunge in night temperatures, the weather remained largely dry during the past 24 hours, with most regions basking under clear skies. Minimum temperatures ranged between –7°C and 13°C, while maximum temperatures hovered between 12°C and 28°C, remaining near normal.

Shimla recorded a minimum of 8.2°C, Dharamsala 9.4°C, Manali 2.5°C and Kalpa –0.4°C. Kukumseri and Keylong shivered at –3.1°C and –3.3°C, respectively. Una, meanwhile, stood out as the warmest location with a maximum temperature of 27.8°C.

According to the State Meteorological Department, dry conditions are expected to prevail across Himachal till November 19, with both day and night temperatures likely to stay around normal levels.
