Take stern action against illegal mining, officials told
Anupam Kashyap, Deputy Commissioner, Shimla, has directed all officials concerned to take stern and immediate action in order to curb illegal mining and to reduce its adverse effects.
The DC, while chairing a meeting on illegal mining, said authorised officers have already been issued challan books and have been instructed to increase the number of challans to curb such practices.
He also said that proper permissions are required for dumping debris from personal land development, and violations should be dealt with promptly.
He also directed the officials to monitor and act against unauthorised dumping of debris. The DC urged all departments to remain vigilant to ensure that no form of illegal mining takes place in the district.
Anupam Kashyap also addressed the issue of illegal liquor trade in the district and instructed the police and administrative officers to undertake strict enforcement measures to stop unlawful liquor trade, which not only causes revenue loss to the state but also poses health risk to the public.
He said that there is a need for joint inspections at regular intervals to effectively prevent and control the illegal transportation and distribution of liquor across the district.
Earlier, while chairing a meeting of the district-level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD), he said that coordinated efforts among departments and stakeholders should be established to curb the rising menace of drug abuse in the district.
