According to the initial details, Gaurav had been residing alone in McLeodganj for the past few months, while his family lived nearby in Sudher village. His landlord, Subash Chand, discovered him lying unconscious in the verandah of the house and immediately alerted the local police.

SHO Deepak Kumar reached the spot with his team and shifted Rana to the Zonal Hospital in Dharamsala, where doctors declared him brought dead. The deceased’s wife and mother were informed and later identified the body at the hospital. Police sources said no foul play was suspected by the family during the preliminary inquiry. However, the report noted that Rana was allegedly addicted to alcohol, which could be a potential factor in his death.
