In a significant push towards TB elimination, ACME Welfare Foundation, New Delhi, in collaboration with Tashvika India Food, has joined as a Nikshay Mitra in Himachal. This initiative stands out by offering millet-based nutrition kits instead of traditional grain donations, tailored to aid faster recovery in TB patients.

Designed using research from CSIR-IHBT, Palampur, and ICAR-IIMR, Hyderabad, the kits include highly nutritious items under the “Amrit Bhojanam” brand — such as multi-millet high-protein panjeeri mix, ragi cookies and millet nutribar. Rich in vitamins, iron and dietary fibre, millets have a low glycemic index, making them ideal for TB patients and the general population alike.

A millet awareness workshop was also held at Zonal Hospital, Dharamsala, supported by local Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs. Sadhvi Pandey, MD of Tashvika India, educated attendees on millet’s health benefits and proper cooking methods.
