Officials of Town and Country Planning Department stopped construction of buildings in Lahar and Dugha villages with the help of the police near here yesterday. It was learnt that, despites repeated notices from the department, the construction was continued, allegedly in violation of construction norms.

Town and Country Planner Harjinder Singh said the designs of buildings under construction were not approved by the department.

The department had issued notices to buildings owners under Section 39 of the Himachal Pradesh Town and Country Planning Act (1977), and owners were instructed to stop the construction work immediately, he added.

When owners did not stop the work, officials went to the spot with the police and stopped the construction work. The officials instructed them to resume the work only after getting maps approved.
