Teachers’ body urges Sukhu to notify CAS

The Himachal Government College Teachers Association (HGCTA) has urged Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to issue directions to notify the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) and adopt the UGC Regulations, 2018, to ensure legitimate promotions and strengthen higher education in the state.

Expressing gratitude to the CM for approving the long-awaited promotion of college teachers to the post of principal, the association said the decision would strengthen academic leadership and improve the overall functioning of government colleges. “The newly promoted principals will play a vital role in enhancing academic standards and institutional development,” the association said.

The association hoped that the government would take sympathetic and timely steps for the promotion to Pay Bands II, III, IV issue, which concerns nearly 80 per cent of college teachers.
