The Una district unit of the Himachal Pradesh Prashikshit Berozgar Adhyapak Sangh has lamented that the state government was ignoring the recruitment of trained teachers for government jobs through rightful and legal channels.

The sangh members said the government was shielding the teachers recruited through the school management committees (SMCs), contradicting the recruitment and promotion (R&P) rules.

District union president Rajni Bala said a virtual meeting of the district office-bearers was held today, wherein they expressed concern over the delay in recruitment of teachers through the State Service Commission (SSC), batch-wise selection or recruitment on the basis of seniority roaster.

She said the union members had deplored the decision of the state government to move the Supreme Court against the decision of the Himachal Pradesh High Court to dismiss the services of teachers appointed by the SMCs.

As per the members of the sangh, the government was presenting a plea that the teachers selected through the SMCs were working in tribal areas against vacant posts of regular teachers. They pointed out that as per the information received under RTI Act, of 792 new school lecturers recruited by SMCs, 582 were serving in non-tribal areas. Moreover, teachers recruited by SMCs were even serving in districts such as Una, which did not have any tribal area, they said.
