Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said ideas and thoughts of Sant Shiromani Ravidas were for the benefit and welfare of the entire society.

The Governor was speaking at a programme organised on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Nirvana Diwas at Dera Swami Jagat Giri Ashram at Bhdroya in Indora subdivision of Kangra district on Sunday. He said the teachings of Sant Ravidas connect people and are more relevant today.

He said Lord Krishna has said in Bhagavad Gita that whenever there is blasphemy of religion, he takes birth on earth in some form or the other.

He said when society moved on the wrong path, such a spirit took birth on Earth and guided us. Governor Arlekar said the teachings of saints were for all people.

On this occasion, the Governor also inaugurated the newly built hostel building of the MKM Senior Secondary Public School at Bhadroya. Lauding the efforts of Dera Swami Jagat Giri Ashram, the Governor said the work of education being undertaken by the ashram was commendable.

Earlier, he paid obeisance at Sant Ravidas temple. Shri Shri 108 Swami Gurdeep Giri honoured the Governor. Local MLA Reeta Dhiman was also present.
