A serious incident of indiscipline came to the fore during the ongoing International Dasehra festival in Kullu as Tehsildar Hari Singh Yadav filed an FIR alleging physical assault and public humiliation by a group of individuals associated with Devta Bhrigu Rishi.
According to the complaint registered at Kullu Police Station under Sections 173 of the BNSS, 126(2), 132, 121(1), 351 (2), 356 (2) and 3 (5), Yadav, along with six subordinate patwaris, was performing official duties on October 2 as chairman of the Devta Management Committee in compliance with administrative orders from the Deputy Commissioner.
Around 12:30 pm, a group carrying the palanquin of Devta Bhrigu Rishi accused Yadav of entering their tent wearing shoes. Despite his reported apology and clarification, the group allegedly became aggressive.
The FIR states that one individual named Rahul, along with others, physically manhandled Yadav, dragged him by the collar, and took him forcibly towards their camp located about 200 meters away. The group allegedly kicked and punched Yadav and his staff, obstructing them from performing their duties. The entire incident has been reportedly captured on CCTV.
Yadav claimed that the assault was part of a pre-planned conspiracy, linked to an earlier disagreement over unauthorised tent placement by the Bhrigu Rishi group. He also alleged that the group ignored several administrative requests to vacate the area and bring their kardar (official representative) for dialogue.
Yadav demanded immediate arrest of the accused, stressing the life-threatening nature of the attack and obstruction of government duties during a high-profile public event.
