Thousands flock to Himri Ganga lake in Mandi for sacred bath
In a grand display of devotion, a large number of pilgrims gathered at the revered Himri Ganga lake in Mandi district for the ‘Bhadon shahi snan’ (sacred bath) on Wednesday. The lake was teeming with devotees, who took a ritualistic dip, sought the blessings of Mata Himri Ganga and revered deities, ‘Siyon Gahri’ and ‘Mahunag’.
The local administration had deployed police forces from Padhar to Dayana park to manage the massive turnout and ensure security. The traffic was regulated with one-way restrictions on major routes while Padhar to Himri Ganga remained open in both directions. Despite efforts, the traffic congestion occurred early in the day.
To facilitate the pilgrims’ movement, over a dozen vehicle were organised. Local and visiting devotees had access to improved transportation services.
Nageshwari Devi, president of fair committee, and Lekh Ram Thakur, president of temple committee and BDC member, reported high enthusiasm among pilgrims.
In addition, the Prashar Valley saw a large number of devotees visiting the Parashar Rishi Temple for the sacred bath. Former legislator Jawahar Thakur joined the pilgrimage, traveling to Prashar via the Kullu-Parashar bus.
